Monthly Message from

Pastor Eric Hull

February 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to speak to you this month about being ALIVE and ACTIVATED in your heavenly calling.  First of all, you must understand that God has called you to be chosen for a royal destiny.  1 Thessalonians 5:9 teaches that God did not destine you for wrath, but that you might obtain salvation through your Lord Jesus Christ who died for you. This great salvation that you have received is of far greater value than anything the world has to offer.  It has made you a priest of the Most High who has a divine purpose to fulfill.  Each one of us has been sent into the world, even as Jesus was, to play a part in advancing the Kingdom of God.  It is time that we discover what that is and begin to walk in it with life and power.  How to we become ALIVE and ACTIVATED?  God has given us instructions in His word to help us on our way.

The Apostle Paul says that to live is Christ (Philippians 1:21).  In other words, the only basis for true spiritual life is the connection we have with Jesus.  Although we may have received Him as Lord and Savior, we do not dwell with Him in the fullness that is available.  God wants us to continually abide in the life nourishing vine so that we may be fruitful in everything we do for Him.  Many churches tell you that if you just pray enough, read the Bible daily, and fellowship with the right believers that you will abide with Christ effectively.  I tell you that these activities in and of themselves can wind up being "dead works" if you're not careful.  There is only ONE way to life.  That is through the person of Jesus Christ.  So, I encourage you to focus on the revelation of who He is rather than activities that many believers just end up doing in the flesh to try to arrive at a place in the spirit. The Bible tells us to fix our eyes upon Jesus who is the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).  Our minds must be renewed daily in the revelation that Christ died for our sins and that we have been made righteous in God's sight.   Remember, the Gospel (the GOOD NEWS that Jesus is the CHRIST and that CHRIST was crucified for our sake) is the power of God unto salvation for ALL who believe (Romans 1:16).  It is the knowledge of this truth that is the power in your life.  So, as you meditate upon Christ and what He has done for you personally, the desire to be in prayer, the Word, good fellowship, and effective ministry will easily be produced in your life.  It will not be a struggle.

We also need to be ACTIVATED in order to walk in our divine destiny.  It is God's plan that this process takes place through His church (people who have been called out of the world).  That is not to say that the all surpassing power comes from us, but that God has chosen human beings as the vehicle through which His Kingdom authority flows.  Even Jesus needed to be activated in His calling by being baptized by John the Baptist.  Clearly John had no power in himself to do that.  Think about it.  How could a sinful man do anything to launch the public ministry of the sinless Son of God?  It's crazy to our natural minds.  However, this example in Scripture teaches that as John was obedient to baptize, God the Father acted in response to set Jesus apart for what He was called to do.  The heavens opened, a voice from on high was heard, and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove.  As you and I walk in obedience to our individual callings and minister to others as John did, there is power from God to activate those who come along side of us into their heavenly calling.  The bottom line is that we need one another to fulfill the call of God on our lives.  So, I ask you to join me as I seek to purposefully ACTIVATE others into their royal destiny in the days ahead.

In Christ's Service,

Pastor Eric
